Fall Colors in Wedding Design – Part 2
Crazy BOLD Colors! In Part 2 of “Fall Colors in Wedding Design”, I want to display my other favorite fall color combination from the Pantone Color Institute. They are American Beauty, Iron and Warm Olive.
American Beauty
Why this color? Because RED is my absolute favorite color of all time! American Beauty is a deep jewel tone, true red that balances well with other colors. It’s perfect for all skin tones. American Beauty is a rich and passionate color that ignites the senses and makes us feel alive!
Iron
The Pantone Color Institute has pegged the strong yet understated Iron as the “new black”, this fall season. Iron is making traditional basics much more interesting. Neither gray nor brown, Iron is a grounding color that coordinates well with all colors in the palette.
Warm Olive
Warm Olive, a rich yellow-green adds a touch of elegance and sophistication to fall. This is my favorite accent color when doing floral design. When combined, this tangy, intriguing hue makes all other colors more interesting!

Fall Colors in Wedding Design – Part 1
The Fall Colors in Wedding Design for this year are very robust, vivid colors that catch the eye as written about in the Pantone Color Institute Fall Color Report 2009. This report forecasts what colors are hot this fall in fashion. And as we all know, the trends in fashion dictate the color trends in floral and interior design as well.
Each season, Pantone surveys the designers of New York Fashion Week in February to identify the 10 most directional colors. Like a painter’s palette, fall 2009 offers choice and diversity, but the unique integration of colors is what makes it so appealing.
We will examine the different color combinations in several blog posts.
The first color combination I would like to showcase is Purple Heart and Honey Yellow. A warmer, more subdued Honey Yellow carries the 2009 color of the year, PANTONE 14-0848 Mimosa, through to fall and winter with its golden tones. Pairing Honey Yellow with its color wheel opposite, Purple Heart, will surely add a surprising flair.
